An introduction to the Sitebuilder software Print

  • 1

If you buy one of iDigLocal's website hosting packages (Start-a-website, Business or Business-plus) you will have access to our Sitebuilder software. The purpose of the Sitebuilder software is to allow customers to easily build a website for themselves without having to pay a web designer. The key to using the Sitebuilder software is to remember what its purpose is; it is an alternative to hiring a web designer not a replacement. The verstility of the software is limited with respect to the layout of your website and is in a large part set once you choose a template to use (we will discuss templates in another article). Its main use is for the design of a website given your selected template. You can add your logo, website name, a banner image, change text, add page images, format text colours and fonts, format borders and background colours, create a blog and add a contacts page. There is in fact quite a lot you can do to get your website looking and functioning the way you want it to, but it is not infinitly flexible.

The reason I have given this introduction is that I do not want users of the software to become frustrated by the fact that they can't put a picture here or a paragraph there when they start building there website. The layout of the page can be edited, but it is restricted to some extent, as I say, by the template that is chosen.

But, saying that, we believe that the Sitebuilder software has a lot to offer, depending on your needs, especially if you don't want to hire a web designer and you don't know and have no inclination to learn web designing. So what we propose to do is to give as comprehensive a guide as possible to using this software in this section of our support section.

We have only just started this section of the knowledge base so there are currently no additional articles at present but we will add them when we have time. Currently there is a video on our website as an introduction. This video is for version 5.0 of the software, we have jsut recently updated this to version 5.2 so some differences exist. We will also update the video when we have time, and perhaps split it up and include them in our subsequent articles in the knowledgebase.

Mean while if you wish to use the RVsitebuilder software we suggest you watch the video currently available on the website and just get in there and get your hands dirty.

best regards,

The iDigLocal Team
